What customers say?

“ Cozy old-style Japanese kissaten run by a lovely elderly couple. I tried the egg sandwich, pancakes, and hot blended coffee — all tasted like simple home cooking in the best way. The atmosphere feels nostalgic and authentic, and prices are very reasonable. Cash only. I uploaded photos and videos if you want a feel of the place — definitely worth a stop. ”

“ Stumble upon this cute cosy cafe with my husband and we have no regrets. The environment is an old school cafe run by an old couple. The uncle was so warm and friendly and the coffee is an old school type of coffee that you would make at home. The pancake as well, home made style. We love this place and will definitely come back again when we are in asakusa ”

“ Really cosy little cafe that hasn’t changed in years. The service was very nice and the atmosphere was lovely. The hot chocolate tasted like it was made with cocoa powder and hot milk rather than being made by a machine. The food was delicious. ”

“ I went in the afternoon. It was quiet and relaxing, the coffee and food were both good. A great place to take a rest after dealing with the Asakusa crowd. ”

“ Asakusa is home to a variety of long-established coffee shops, and this is one of them. It's been in business for 98 years!? It'll soon be 100 years! Amazing!! It's about a 2-3 minute walk from Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba Express Line. It's on the first floor of Shin-Nakamise, an arcade street. There are no significant steps at the entrance, so you can enter smoothly. The interior is quite long and narrow, with about 20 seats. Tables are arranged for two and four people. There aren't many seats, but each group stays there for less than an hour, so I think the turnover is good. On our visit, there happened to be one table free, so we were able to sit down easily. The people behind us were also seated immediately after two groups had left. Surprisingly, only one group was turned away, so I think it's actually a pretty easy place to get into. Menu Drinks include the usual coffee, tea, and cocoa, along with coffee shop favorites like cream soda and lemon squash. Food options include pancakes, toast, mixed sandwiches, and hot dogs. They also offer light snacks and a cafe menu, making it a convenient place to stop by. Since I was pretty hungry, I ordered a drink and pancakes. Iced tea, hot cocoa, and pancakes. They were served faster than I expected. Pancakes These are classic, beautiful pancakes. You can't get this color even when you bake them at home. These pancakes are definitely different from the ones you get at restaurants. They have a chewy texture and are delicious. And they're even better with syrup. They go really well with butter. -Overall- The drinks were delicious, and the pancakes were great too. Hotcakes at this traditional cafe taste even better than usual. It's reasonably priced compared to modern restaurants, and if it were a little less crowded I might want to relax. I'll stop by again. ”

“ I visited Coffee Hatoya for a cafe break. This long-established cafe retains a strong Showa-era atmosphere and is run by the owner alone, giving it a warm feeling that's deeply rooted in the local community. I ordered coffee and a mixed sandwich. The sandwich was larger than I expected, with a delicious, old-fashioned flavor with a hint of mustard. The coffee also had a calming taste, giving it the reassuring feel you'd expect from a Showa-era cafe. The interior of the cafe has a nostalgic atmosphere and is quiet, making it a great place to relax on your own. The atmosphere is loved by local regulars, making it a great place to stop by between sightseeing or walks. ”

“ There was one seat with a different table and chair. Is there something going on? The pancakes were delicious. I was able to relax and enjoy my drink without it being crowded. ”
